I fiddled around simplify quite some time before finding the slider you indicated. I haven't used Simplify much up to now.
I've attached a revised version where I adjusted the simplify size from .34 to .17. This probably past the point you were suggesting but I would like to know that this is the slider and the adjustment you were refering to.

This was a good learning exercise.

I like your composition but the effect is too strong to my tastes.

Which Simplify tool are you using? I like to create a duplicate layer then use one of the Buz Sim filters then slide the layer opacity towards 0% until I get a near original view. I think BuzSim does great things with leaves.

Thanks for taking the time to provide helpful suggestions Dave.
I have the Topaz suite and used Simplify painting 2 on this photo.
If I understand correctly, you use Simplify to slightly enhance your photo and then tone it down to remove most of the effect to obtain a slightly enhance result.

I didn't go quite that far in the attached version which I am posting to see if resembles your suggestion at all.

In Simplify, I selected the Buzsim effect and adjusted with Simplify Size, Feature Boost, Detail Strength, and Detail Size. This may be overkill but I am not completely conversant with this tool. I chose not to create a Duplicate layer for no particular reason. With these sliders I discovered that it possible to eliminate the effect just about entirely.

This has also been a great learning exercise. I would appreciate any other observations you may have on the process I used.

Good suggestion :thumbup: I like to call the duplicate layer 'effect layer' and keep it's opacity down toward the 'photo' 0% end to avoid getting too harsh a look. Also, I use the 'base' selection box in BuzSim and keep the detail slider way toward the left. That way a photograph still looks like one. :wink:
