I am suffering from a corrupted Lightroom catalog and cannot access any of my files on my desktop computer till I solve it. I have whiled away some of the time waiting for various functions to run on the thing by visiting with some neglected and abandoned images on my small travel external drive and my ancient laptop.

Here's one from last fall. Comments, critiques appreciated.

Isn't it cool to go back to some old stuff that you (we?) sort of dismiss--but don't trash--to see what we can do with it? Applying new knowledge and skills can be really satisfying.

I think I'll be having this kind of fun for a while. I'm predicting it will take me at least a week to sort this horror show out.

It looks like HDR or PP to give it that look? Some detail has been lost I think. A slightly softer process with a little more contrast? It is a very beautiful scene and a superb composition in my humble opinion

I'm surprised we've not seen this one before this!
There is balance between the sun-lit near bank and the shaded opposite bank separated along the diagonal by the stream.
...And the stories in this stream bed progress, literally, at a geologic pace. water and sand-worn surfaces, rock that tumbled into view with the last 50-year spate, and massive boulders that have held their spots on that part of the Earth's surface for a millenium or two...or more.

And the stream Flows with water that has roles and splashes and sounds lika stream ( and doesn't look like a satin sheet pulled over rocks....)

And the view upstream is inescapable evidence of the scene's depth.

12.5/15

I think this image is a gorgeous accomplishment...one of your best, if I dare say so!

No HDR but perhaps a bit heavy on clarity and/or sharpening. It's hard to be real sure what I'm doing on the blotchy old laptop screen, will be giving this one another look on my real computer when it's fixed (if I can find it anymore :? ) thanks!

Thank you. It's retreived from the dusty slush file and may eventually see print. I don't trust this version though, will wait till my real but crippled computer is available for work.
