I've been preparing a presentation for the local camera club, "My Journey in Photography". In the process I'm collecting a number of images for presentation. These three are from slides that I scanned. The images are 50 years old.
The first really needs no comment, just a nice view with wild flowers.
The second is a shot of the picture window at the front of a little chapel in the park. Sit near the center aisle and this is the view.
I rather like the winding snake river with the Tetons in the distance.
I took these with a Nikon S2 rangefinder camera on Kodachrome.
Comments appreciated.
Great shots, good ole days, no busloads of tourists unloading and blocking your tripod that you had set up long before, to capture the right light, no eroded, deep trials to all the "magic spots. Jerry, 60 miles over the hill and still shooting!
I love the the Snake River one most because the river leads to the mountain;) great design in the thirds- I want to go !!
A person can get some of the nicest photo's on film, nice job.
Great job on the conversion to digital images. I think its great what your doing. Save all you can. I also did this with my old Kodachrome slides.
It would be interesting to compare those same shots to some taken today to see how the trees have grown!
great job
I'll bet there are some UHHers out there who have recent shots from nearly the same vantage points. If so, please feel free to post them here for easy comparison :-)
While I am writing I ought to add that when I scanned the slides I used a brush and air to try to remove the dust. I've used the healing brush in Photoshop to get rid of all the visible dust specks BUT if you enlarge the images, you'll see a LOT of dust.
I do have a couple from the fall of 2013.
the church one doesn't show a lot of change, and the river shot is different, but does show much taller trees almost blocking the view
very interesting thanks
The little chapel you refer to is the Church of the Transfiguration and there are two nice stained glass windows in the entrance. Been there many times.

Thanks for those. Yes, the trees kind of took away the view of the Snake River.

Thanks for that information.
