My Minolta SRT 101 from 1968 is my favorite but with the cost of film etc. I am using my D5100 until the wife thinks I need a D7100. It might be a D7900 if I wait for her!

Work camera - Nikon D 7100 - I will need to see a camera that will do a whole lot better before I upgrade. Fun camera - 1938 Graflex View. Pictured below with lens box. - Dave

I'm not sentimental about cameras. If a new one comes along that I think I would like better then I sell the older one and buy the new one. There is one camera that I do wish I had kept and that was a Yashica Electro 35 that I bought at the PX in Cam Rahn Bay, Viet Nam in 1968. A lot of memories with that camera. My first "real" camera.

Canon 5D MK III which I've had for 4 or 5 years now. It's all the FF I could ask for. I also own the 7D which I will probably update to the 7D MK II someday. Of course that upgrade may have to compete with the release of the Canon 100-400mm L series II lens. On the other hand, if they price it at $2K or above, I'll probably pass.

Bob, you did real good on the 5D MKIII if you've had it 4 or 5 years!! It was just released in 2012!! How did you get such an advance copy? TNmike

Favorite.... wow, i have to choose? i have one of the last of the Nikon F2 series from 1981. i have a few nikon F cameras that get used on occasion that range from 1964 to 1971. I am more likely to pick up my Nikkormat FTn or FE2 if i want a retro camera. if i want to amaze the punters at a workshop i carry my Exa 0 (zero) or an old soviet made Fed rangefinder. sometimes a Kiev 88cm at an event is fun just to scare people. the camera is not my first choice but the Carl Zeiss Jena lenses are acceptable. mostly its that huge negative that makes up for the single coated lenses.

The all time favorite 35mm camera for me was a Contax RTSIII. That was a Japanese made wonder camera that was pretty much the end of the road in the late 80's. You could spend more money, but you didn't get more camera. modern Zeiss lenses, insane frame rate, and a vacuum pressure plate to assure absolute film flatness for critical focus.

I've still got an old ARGUS C3, WW2 wartime camera, also affectionately called "The Brick". It sits on an and-table right by my recliner chair. I don't use it anymore, but it has run many a roll of Verichrome Pan 35mm thru it. I bought it in a Pawn Shop in 1953 and used it 'till I got my Canon AE-1 in the late 70s.
It s colored in the GI Olive Drab paint of that era, and is a natural conversation starter...I just wish that old camera could talk, each of those scrapes and dings could probably tell stories worth hearing.

My favorite camera of all time is the Kodak Z8612 from 2009 or so. It's a good no-nonsense bridge camera and probably Kodak's least appreciated camera. I use it at work all the time, and it stays in my computer case. For serious photography I use my E-PL5 kit, but the Kodak goes with me everywhere.

Only months old. I think I got it in early July or late June.
But 9069 shutter count to date.
It is the best camera I have ever owned IMHO.

But my first good camera was in 1968, Yashica MAT 124 twin lens reflex. 120 or 220 film. 2.25" X 2.25" negatives.
Looked like dis:

More of a portrait camera really.

At the oldest, my Nikon FM2n is 30 years old; I have no idea how old it's MD-12 is. As long as I can buy film, this is the last of any of my cameras I would get rid of, except under one of two possible conditions: availability of an affordable trade or trade-in for a Nikon F4S or a Leica M6.

Favorite ? Canon T90. How old? Nearly 30 years. Still use? No. Keep? Yes. I use one of its digital offspring, but I consider the camera the most replaceable part of the system. The lenses are where I really find favorites.

Upgrade? Eventually yes, but I haven 't hit the limits of my current body yet . New lens before a new body .

The new Canon 100-400mm zoom will be announced in a day or two, and I would get that before a 7D II for example .

Taking sentimentality into account, my favourite would be the 1940's Leica 111c. It gets an outing every now and again.

Mamiya C3 twin lens reflex, 120 film, bellows for close photography. Bought it in the late 1950's. I still have it and I think it's time it sent to Mamiya to be serviced. (Just because I love it.) Great camera never found a sweeter lens.

Minolta Maxxum 7000i. Purchased new shortly after I retired from the Air Force in 1988. That makes it 26 years old. Don't shoot much film anymore but, it still a great camera. It had a spot meter before Nikon's competing 8008s came out.

I also have a Minolta Maxxum 7000i. That camera became a classic. It was in the second generation of Minolta's autofocus cameras. I don't use it anymore but I'm keeping it and the lenses. I'm now using a Nikon D90 and D7000.
