Craig

I broke down and setup the Tripod at 5:00AM when I got up.
And fired-off a few. DSS didn't want anything to do with Stacking them so here's a Solo. Same Nikon 28-300mm f/5.6 ISO 100 1/250sec

Thank you Astro, I can't do handheld shots I always slam the shutter down. Do you do any Stacking other than Stars, maybe the Moon or Sun if so what with?

DSS will stack stars only, for moon, sun, planets you need RegiStax, it is free and does quite well. Very nice image of the moon, keep us posted on more.

Thank you both Astro and Algol,
I have both DSS and RegiStax so it's a matter of gaining experience with both for what they each do best.

I agree with Algol, very nice shot.
I have used Registax with pretty decent results as well.
It takes a little bit of effort but usually worth it.
Keep going, your doing well.

Just for grins take a look at this video clip I shot with my 11"
You'll see why some pics look great and others don't even though you don't touch anything. This was on a night of moderate twinkle.

That is a really nice video inspite of the atmospheric waves. Do you Stack using AVI or MPEG?

Your Canon and my Nikon record in H.264 Quicktime file (.mov)
We need to convert those to AVI or MPEG with a Video Converter

I've tried several converters and the stacking programs won't open them.
