It is a tractor beam for aliens...Couldn't resist.
I have seen a similar effect when I am shooting directly at the sun (sunrises and sunsets). It is a digital camera artifact...
the aliens usually hang around Machu Picchu anyway.
Hm, I couldn't see the photos.
Its actually amusing in this day how many peeps fall for these hoaxes.....

Anything is possible....think outside the box here!!!
So the true answer will come from the person that claims/swears it was real...so lets find out for sure!...its beams didnt do this or that...so what...if it was shopped...an amature for sure...if some reason it was real....then light is light and how it was projected from or with has alot to do with its beam....not really "rocket" science, but then maybe it was a "rocket"....lol

Since we have a lot of photo experts around here, some of you can offer your explanations of what may have caused this light beam from the Mayan pyramid:
http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/03/02/mayan-light-beam-photo-message-from-gods-or-iphone-glitch/"When Hector Siliezar visited the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza with his wife and kids in 2009, he snapped three iPhone photos of El Castillo, a pyramid that once served as a sacred temple to the Mayan god Kukulkan. A thunderstorm was brewing near the temple, and Siliezar was trying to capture lightning crackling dramatically over the ruins.
In the first two images, dark clouds loom above the pyramid, but nothing is amiss. However, in the third photo, a powerful beam of light appears to shoot up from the pyramid toward the heavens, and a thunderbolt flashes in the background."Anybody want to offer an explanation, in addition to the ones in the article?

I for one think that the "scientific" explanation given is a little lame, are there any physicists or engineers out there that can give their opinion?
Jerry, those videos of how plane propeller images are interpreted by the iPhone and Canon are very interesting. Thanks!

Hey....that is some really good info you posted there...thanks!
I can't explain that but I would think it'd be a anomaly due to the lightning. Read here (from

Siliezar, who recently shared his photographs with occult investigators, told Earthfiles.com that he and his family didnt see the light beam in person; it appeared only on camera.
The photo has surfaced on several Mayan doomsday discussion forums.

I finally was able to view the photo.............looks way too precise to be real. But, then again, I would imagine any extraterrestrials would have far greater knowledge and expertise in the realm of physics and other "scientific stuff" and could do such things. :>)
