I have maintained several Hopi friendships for 20-40 years. An old friend of mine visited this week, and his Black Badger clan traces their roots to Spruce Tree House in the park. Photography was really a tertiary goal on this trip, and it occurred to me as we hiked to a spring near the ruin that his family had drank those waters for >40 generations. It was touching to see his emotions bubble to the surface when the NPS Ranger, who was part native himself, said "welcome home."
Really nice shots! Mesa Verde is a wonderful place with ruins that you captured so nicely in b&w. Thank you for sharing your story!
