I just got my new 7d yesterday and am looking for an opinion as to what the best autofocus setting would be for birds in flight. In the past, on my old 7d, I would use expanded center. But with all the new hype about the great autofocus I wonder if different settings might work better. I will be using my Tamron 150-600.

Has anyone used their 7d for birds in flight yet?

Thanks

I hope to get it out to the local pond today and maybe grab some ducks or geese in flight.

Since its raining outside at the moment, I decided to play around with some very high ISO. Here are two pics 10000 and 16000 ISO. The only pp done was for exposure.

I use a similar version of Canon AF. The "zone" selection works very well, depending upon what you are tracking. My camera also allows me to use all 61 AF points (the lazy-man's way of tracking) and that can be quite fun. Both work extremely well. You get to experiment and be the "first on your block" to give us a full report. In your case patience will be your best second shooter. GL
