The climate here seems to confuse plants. Some accept Autumn but others refuse to do so - very strange.

Bill, I described this badly. What I meant was that buds and flowers were forming at the same time and alongside the ripening tangerines which are almost ready to harvest. Some fruit trees out here, particularly lemon trees, provide fruit all through the year but this is new behavior for this particular Tangerine tree. The present flowers and buds are really pretty but I don't think they will mature into fruit but we will see. Another interesting thing here is that you can have trees that produce both oranges and lemons - done through grafting.
As for the Carnations, these do flower all year through here except in the really hot months of summer. They mostly have the normal flowers with lots of sepals but also have more simple blooms as the one shown here. I'll take a photo of a normal one later but they are more difficult for macro from a DOF point of view.
A proper Carnation but only a close-up. They are too big to macro the whole flower.

Again just for interest a rather dull shot of Tangerines and flowers at the same time.
Great. It's a nice change from bugs.

Thanks gerrpet, nice to hear from someone in Canada.
Brenda,
All are very well done as we have come to expect from you. But for me the pink carnation is just superb. I love the pink separated from the black and also the great depth of field and sharpness.
