Anybody that carries in an outer waist band holster and has the problems of a short shirt always ridding up and allowing the bottom to show. Switch to an in the waist band holster, same short shirt now only has to cover the top of the holster to keep things concealed. I've done this during the summer and even in the fall when it's still warm. You can either go an expensive route like a Crossbreed leather and kydex combo, or a cheaper route like an Uncle Mikes fabric (feels like neoprene almost) holster, each work just as well, and once you get them fitted in place and used to wearing them you won't have to worry about re-adjusting and always feeling where they are, both bad habits to start with.

For hot weather I do as you but if my attire is such that I can not hide it that way I also have a leg holster it has 2 Velcro straps that fit the calf of the leg.
It takes a second longer to raise pant leg and draw but I do not expect to be in a OK corral situation you usually know when things are about to spin out of control.
I only use it when I otherwise would not have my gun better to have it in a little unhandy place than not at all.

This is a strange one. Here's a chart telling you how to know when someone is carrying a concealed gun.

Missouri is now an Open Carry State....I have been carrying a handgun, concealed and on duty, since 1970. My personal opinion of open carry or carrying and not concealing well is this....I think it is a bad idea, read Stupid idea....First of all if you are carrying for personal protection of you and or your family, all open carry does is alert anyone that may have an intension of committing a crime, who he or she is going to take out first. If I have to pull out my weapon for safety, I want the intended target to not see it coming. Caught off guard give ME the edge. I remember, years ago, running down a gangway between two houses, looking for a man that had just shot at two other police officers. I was a detective in plain clothes...as I ran toward the back yards, the bad guy ran around the corner of the house I was next to and we were face to face, about 15 feet apart.....It caught him off guard (me too actually). I didn't say anything (he had a gun in his hand), I just raised my weapon an fired a round in his direction..immediately. He did the same in my direction. From that point on the chase was on and I fired two more shots at him and he at me. I hit him once and he tried to hide in a bush...I arrested him and recovered the weapon he had used to shoot at me and the other coppers. Also turned out he was a serial rapist, and car thief. His intensions that day were to rob a check cashing place where he first shot at the other police officers.

Being shot is it the only way someone can kill you. Knives, baseball bat, even withe their fists. I'm too old to outrun just about anyone.

Damn, all I remember was they had a top class graduate who received the free dress blues. I don't remember any numerical listing of class placement or percentages there. About 10% do fail or try to escape or go AWOL though so there's that figure.

I agree with your comment. I know of no percentage of in class rating. Either you got booted out or graduated as a Marine. Now there was, as you mentioned, one Marine got a Dress Blue uniform, and there was a honor bestowed upon those who shot high on the rifle range, but no rating standard in how you graduated.

Boot camp drills into you how you work as a team, not as an individual.

Glad that he was a poor shot. I have practiced a lot I'm a good marksman but I have always wondered if I could still hit my target if it was shooting back.
I have never been in a firefight but I know that it would be much different unless your training kicked in and you just did it without taking time to think about it.
I respect what you guy's do not easy job.

The chart is interesting but doesn't cover the small of the back (where I carry.) Also, the first few paragraphs of the text provide important caveats.

I had an incident about a year ago that shows that the training never really leaves you. I walked out of a store toward my car. Once I got to my car I saw a man inside going through it and yelled at him. He exited my car and was about 6 feet from me...face to face. He had a long, large, screwdriver that he had used to force open my door....I could have shot him, but did not...I said something to him and he immediately jumped into a waiting pickup truck and off they went, nearly running me down as they did....I drew a bead on the truck but did not fire because the backdrop was a busy roadway in the middle of the day. Had I shot and missed the truck I would have endangered any motorists passing by. End result was a 6 thousand dollar loss on my part counting the equipment stolen and the damage resulting from the theft. I had been retired for five years at that point in my life.

As practical advice, it always is helpful if you want to rob a bank. I don't know that from practical experience, but it sounds logical to me :)

I agree with you on open carry... I have a concealed carry permit in Florida and in 14 years have carried a gun twice, both times while walking my wife about half a mile to the start of the West Palm Beach Marathon at 4 AM. A gun is a huge responsibility and is certainly not for "cowboys".

We do kill off a lot of people over here because we have an insane lack of gun laws thanks to the gun industry but I have been told by one of your countrymen that it all evens out because you have beef and kidney pie.

We have a TON of gun laws on the books....trouble is they are not enforced by the courts system...or if they are they are barely a slap on the wrist. St Louis City tried to institute a "gun Crime Court" that expedited any violations involving a gun, but the voters would not approve it. When I was a St Louis City officer the prosecutors office got on a high horse about officers arresting people carrying guns in the city. If a bad guy was carrying a gun and threw it on the ground as an officer approached they would not issue warrants against the bad guy. That word quickly spread among the criminal element and the result was little prosecution on gun related crimes. We don't need MORE gun laws...We need the courts to prosecute the ones already on the books.
