My name is Donna live in New Smyrna Florida. Trying to decide to purchase a canon 7d currently use a 50d not a pro just love to take pics Does anyone have any comments on the 7d? thanks
When I got my 60D I decided it wasn't worth the price difference (to me) so went for the one just below it. I LOVE, Love, love my camera. I think the main difference is the full frame on the 7D. That's a big deal if that's what you need but if you're taking for yourself it may not be all that important - or it might!! Just sayin'
Other than that welcome...glad to see another Canon user.

I love the cannon 7d. I also own the 50 d. THE DIFFERENCE IS DAY AND NIGHT. If you can afford it the 7 d is the way to go. NO LONGER WILL YOU DEAL WITH YHE 1/6 MAGNIFACATION FACTOR. YOUR NOW IN THE FULL FRAME REALM. JUST A THOUGHT THOUGH BEFORE YOU PURCHASE YOUR NEXT CAMERA consider looking at an L-series lens. Lets just say 70 -210 F/2.8. Bring your 50 d with you to your Professional Camera store(providing you have one close by). Take a few shots in the store make shure a card is loaded beforehand. When you get home and examine your images .You may be surprised indeed. If you don't have a store near see if you can borrow one for a day from a camera club. Providing the owner is with you. I think you may find that the 50 D still has a life to live in your domain. I also conveted from Nikon while working for a large New England Dealership selling professional camera equipment. I made My choice after knowing all the company reps, and some service techs. I'm glad that I did make that change. I hope this helps
I have been shooting a 7d for a year and love it. I am still learning all that this camera will do. Get good glass and don't look back!

Unless I've read some incorrect 7D reviews, I believe that the sensor for this camera is NOT full frame.
Anybody know for sure?

Donna...I used the 7D with a 17-50 2.8 lense for about 2years...what would you like to know....I can say that this a beast of a camera...has some weight to it... excellent shutter lag time.... (.45 milliseconds).. I used the wireless flash with a Metz 58 Af-1...slightly quirky though> I though use a Nikon D7000 now....

...also it depends on what features you are looking for and what lenses you currently have..... after having them both..I do like the features of the Nikon...

but regardless what camera you use...ITS ALL ABOUT THE GLASS ON THE FRONT!!!!
You are correct the 7d is a cropped sensor

I think the difference is the magnesium body. I went with the 60D I also have the T1i I needed a 2nd body compatible with my lenses
