I used chiaroscuro lighting to create a strong light /shadow on the goblet and a strong reverse light /shadow on the background. Only 1 light was used.
Enjoy :-)

It's obvious you've chosen an accurate avatar's name Lighting. You're a master at it. It's really a simple solution once you've seen it done properly by someone else.

Simple, elegant and absolutely beautiful! And with one light? How did you set this up?

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful comments. It's greatly appreciated
Here is the lighting setup. Note that the goblet is placed in the upper part of the triangle of light.

I wish to follow up on the first setup diagram.
In this lighting diagram, a hard light source is used in place of a softbox. A hard light creates a quicker transition on the background from light to dark. Also a flag can be used to block some of the light. This creates a quick transition on the background.

I really enjoy your lighting in your posts. It is what I strive to achieve in the studio but fall short of accomplishing. Well done as usual.
