You certainly have that branch in the right spot - beautiful captures on all of them but robin 2 the feathers there look like velvet and you just want to stroke them - great job.

Those are lovely Angler. And lucky you. Birds never seem to stay still long enough for me to get a shot.

Hello Bill and thanks for looking I always appreciate it.Glad you liked them. What I did for these photos Bill was to find a small branch and placed it on a caravan step which was about twelve inches from the ground on the grass lawn.I then scattered seed on to the step.I was in the front lounge of the house with the patio doors open with the camera set up on the tripod which was poining downwards towards the branch and the background was the grass lawn.I chose a spot on the branch where I thought the birds would
land on the branch and set the lens and camera in auto focus continuous mode on that spot.Every so often a bird will land on that spot and look down at the seed and thats when you take your shot.I also used my remote control release so there wasn't any camera shake and had the steady shot in the off
position.Hope you understand all this Bill.

Thanks Jim - I appreciate the extra info - I have a tripod and a remote release but don't really use them - I will have to force myself to start experimenting.
As usual your bird photos are exquisite.

Excellent in beauty and detail. You really get them to pose well, bird whisperer! I haven't read the other 6 pages of comments as yet and you probably have explained your techniques, but you have nailed these!

Hi Jim ...I just saw these ...what beautiful shots!! I love this set.
What lens do you use for birds?
Great shots, esp. the first one. Did not take any bird photos (except a Jackdaw) while back home in Arnside - weather was great though!

These are amazingly sharp, beautiful photos, Jim!
