I have too many cameras, so I'm trying to sell my Nikon D90 with kit 18--105 lens, along with a Nikon 70--300 AF zoom lens and a Nikkor 500 f/8 mirror lens. I have no idea what this gear is worth. It's all in "like new" condition. I paid about $1000.00 (give or take) for the camera and lens 4 years ago, so I don't know what it's worth. The lenses cost me nothing, as my brother gave them to me, and I don't know what he paid for them. Can someone educate me please. I have one individual interested, but he wants to give me a maximum of $200.00 for just the camera and kit VR lens. He originally offers $150. I think he's trying to low ball me. I told him the camera and kit lens is worth $400.00. What say you all?
If you had the box, manuals and accessories, then your D90 with kit 18-105 is indeed worth the $400 price depending mostly on the shutter count of that body.
High shutter count, no box or accessories knocks it down to the $300 arena.

I would go on e-bay and look up each lens and body and that would give you a good idea of value!!

Unfortunately, no box, but I do have all the accessories and the camera has a very low shutter count. I have no idea how to determine what the shutter count is, but I probably haven't taken more than 200 shots with it. In addition, I have the owner's manual and a book on the D90 by Jon Sparks, that clarifies the use of the controls.
Just out of curiosity, why is the box so important? Once I determine that something I buy is going to work, I toss the box to save on storage room. Perhaps I should keep the box in the future.

Take a low-res JPG image and upload it here, it will give you the shuttercount free:
http://www.myshuttercount.com/The box is the best way short of the original warranty card to determine if the item is USA or grey market. MANY buyers insist on the original box and that adds to the selling value. Used empty boxes are a large market on Ebay as unscrupulous sellers of used grey market cameras are always looking for USA packaging so they can pass their foreign gear off as USA to unwitting buyers.
I have a D90 and paid $425.00 a few months back and body only. It had 14,500 clicks on it and it was like new
and I love it. Look on E-Bay, it should give an idea what you should get for it. Yes the guy is low balling you, I would
say camera with lenses $600.00.

I texted the guy back after his last offer of $200.00 and told him I was already at my bottom line. Haven't heard back. If he wants it bad enough, he'll get back with me. In the meantime, it's not like I need to sell the gear right away. Just clearing out some of the gear.

It's not an AF-S VR lens. Sorry.
As I replace equipment my 20 year old grandson gets presents. So far, D90, D80, 70-300, Bogen Tripod, Brown Line flash units, and the list goes on. He can't wait for me to replace the D7000 and D600 and the fx lenses. I tell him to dream on.
