Frankly, not something I would attempt. Those morays can give a mean bite.

THIS IS GREAT!

Actually, they are not particularly mean, they "gasp" to move water over their gills. Makes for an imposing look. Their teeth face backwards to hold prey. Most bites are people looking for lobsters in holes in the reef, also where eels like to live. Divers reach in the hole to feel for the hidden lobster, the eel bites defensively at the "invading animal" that is "attacking" them in their home, the diver feels the bite- instinctively yanks their hand out, and the design of their teeth makes for a horrible, self tightening rip wound that is powered by the divers pulling!

They told us, if it happens, hold your hand still, and they'll let go, wound will be minor if any at all. They swallow their meals whole, all they want to do with anything bigger is scare it away. Yeah right! But who in their right mind would be able to do that!

But at least you'll know it wasn't the eel's fault.

THIS IS GREAT! br br Actually, they are not part... (show quote)

    But who in their right mind wants to put their hands in a hole that they don't know what is inside? Kinda like putting one's hand down a gopher hole in the desert and getting bit by a rattler. :-D

So now are we to believe that eels can recognize and love people like a dog can? Pretty much looked like it to me... So what does this tell us about fish?

Thanks for posting.

I know koi come readily to be fed, kinda like Pavlov's dog. That woman elicited quite a response from that moray which flawed me but she was also feeding it. Looked like the eel had become another freeloader. Sound familiar? :-D
