I hope you are right. I would love to see wind and solar grow in America and outpace that in Europe and elsewhere. I would love to see more solar and for it to become even more efficient.

I have seen a large solar farm between Nashville and Memphis.

My answer is based more on feeling than fact. Here in AZ, solar is growing at an amazing rate for residential and commercial, so much so that our major provider for electricity, while advertising their support for solar, is now asking our corporation commission that they be allowed to buy back (credit) excess kilowatt hours generated by solar panels, back at a further reduced rate. Solar is obviously affecting their bottom line, which leads to an interesting point. Profit vs. the overall benefit to the people. Certainly not new, but it provides some insight into government run and owned projects like Germany's ocean based wind farm.
Don't quote me but I believe we pay about .10-.11 per Kilowatt Hour. They were buying back (crediting) at about .02 per KH.
If memory serves correctly, they were asking to credit back at a new reduced rate of less than .01 per KH. The fear is at some point, it will not be cost effective for them to have us as solar customers as rates climb. Although I do not see that happening in my lifetime, it is a concern.

gotta wonder why florida "the sunshine state" has so little solar usage.

when you start to look you find out all the state electric companies lobby against it for obvious reasons. germany is at 20% solar and they don't have anywhere near the sunshine we have!

so our political leaders are either dumb or bought off - i wonder which it is? :?:

It is due in part to our country being controlled by corporate sponsored lobbyists who support re-elections of those that support their efforts for greater profits. It's nothing more than legalized bribery, so I would say your remark "bought off" is appropriate.

That's because the mindset on UHH is older than the majority of people who vote. These are very regressive, elderly thinking, military, christian men. They think the government should be run according to the bible. You know, a little loopy! LOL

Silly statement at best.

HA! From this simple, and I do mean simple, response, I can tell that my original words described you correctly. Thank you for making me feel good, next to you, I'm a Rhodes scholar. Yeah, you are stupid, glad it's not a stretch for ya, dude.

This conduct is typical of liberals. Rephrase people's comments so that they say something completely different.

From the book; 'Conservatives Without Conscience'

" Today’s conservatives are “hostile and mean-spirited,” “vengeful, pitiless, exploitive, manipulative, dishonest, cheaters, prejudiced, mean-spirited [again], militant, nationalistic, and two-faced,”

not to mention “enemies of freedom, antidemocratic, anti-equality, highly prejudiced, mean-spirited [once more], power hungry, Machiavellian, and amoral.”

Mental handicaps such as “intolerance of ambiguity, need for certainty or structure in life, overreaction to threats, and a disposition to dominate others” turn them ineluctably into “authoritarians” and “social dominators.”

Unless stopped, Dean warns, conservatives “will take American democracy where no freedom-loving person would want it to go.”

What you say, "the biggest hoax" I heard numerous times when the Japanese threatened our car industry with their more efficient models years ago. We now drive their cars which pollute so much less than our big-fin cars polluters of the 50s and 60s, and we are coming back with our own energy efficient cars, now that we have wised up.

I repeat, why do we stay in the background on things that are good for us? Solar and win power and other efficient forms, yet to be discovered, will win out in time and big oil will see themselves in trouble. Time to move on.

It will take time, but moving on to efficient energy sources is inevitable, and it will happen whether others, like you, hang to old false adages like "hoax" or not.

Solar electric in My state is a no brainer. MY son had it installed on his roof and it has lowered his electric bill by $200 a month! If I wasn't moving to a smaller house I would do it in a heart beat and will when settled! I am referring to the lease option that places maintenance issues on the installation company.
