Beautiful shots. Hummers are some of the most amazing birds. How can a bird that weighs less than a US quarter fly over the Gulf of Mexico in one flight? Incredible!
These Photographs were taken at my Mothers house last summer hope you like them as much as I do....smile
Excellent! You must have a great camera! (Humor intended here) I've always wanted to get them hovering at the feeder in front of our house. I'll try again when summer arrives.
here are a couple I photographed about four years ago. not to long after they left the nest. I want to catch them to at the feeder too maybe this summer they return to my backyard every year for a drink or two.
They are awesome birds it has been tough to catch them in flight they are so graceful....I am not sure if I will ever catch the image I want....but I will keep trying...thank you.
here's one I shot through "video" mode and carved out the single frame and then did some PP on it. Because it's slow (30 fps) you can't get stunning detail ( also I was about 20 feet away from the feeder on zoom) but at least you can grab something because as you know these guys move FAST and flit all over the place.
those are great shots GAClowers how did you capture them?
I actually spend a lot of time making friends with the birds that spend the summer (and winter) in our yard. They get so used to me that they will actually come to me and give me the opportunity to get good shots of them. I can stand very close to their feeder on the deck and they will come and drink while I am standing there. They quite often land on a branch close by and almost pose. Here's another that I got just recently.
