Doesn't seem like much of a problem in the Arctic these days:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2738653/Stunning-satellite-images-summer-ice-cap-thicker-covers-1-7million-square-kilometres-MORE-2-years-ago-despite-Al-Gore-s-prediction-ICE-FREE-now.html

Excerpt: "Only last month, while giving evidence to a House of Lords Select Committee inquiry on the Arctic, Cambridge University’s Professor Peter Wadhams claimed that although the Arctic is not ice-free this year, it will be by September 2015.
Asked about this yesterday, he said: ‘I still think that it is very likely that by mid-September 2015, the ice area will be less than one million square kilometres – the official designation of ice-free, implying only a fringe of floes around the coastlines. That is where the trend is taking us.’
For that prediction to come true it would require by far the fastest loss of ice in history."

Would an alarmist climate "scientist" please step up to the mike and explain this one in layman's terms? (Do they take us for fools?) :D

Doesn't seem like much of a problem in the Arctic ... (show quote)

Although polar ice is definitely going away, scientists are puzzled by the increase this summer. Still, the trend is toward negative growth. Nothing controversial about that.

Has the subject become so thoroughly politicized that we will never see a scientist admit that the data no longer support the "settled science" and it's time to change the models?

I think that the Earth's climate ebbs and flows just like the tides.

Follow the money. If they said that there would be no money for research.

Yes it does and we have been in a warming trend from before the industrial revolution.

i completely agree, and will only add that to think we puny humans can change what the planet is doing is the height of vanity. dennis miller made a telling joke once when he said, "what do you think the farmers thought during the dust bowl? were they concerned about global warming? or did they just think, we sure could use some fucking rain."

At least two ways:

1. Enormous amounts of taxpayer dollars diverted to "scholar/scientists" to continue "studying" the subject (UN and lots of countries.)

2. I believe there are still players such as Nancy Pelosi's husband, Tom Steyer and Al Gore who are betting "carbon credits" or some similar scheme will make them multi-billionaires.
