More Monument Valley B&W's

Two more from majestic Monument Valley, Arizona.

It is interesting to note that this whole valley was originally built up of Navajo sandstone at the heights of the remaining buttes. Wind and rain has worn is down the sandstone to the butte shapes that dot the landscape today. Note the most recent collapse from the side of the large Mitten. Does anyone (old timer?) know just when this occurred? Was in within our life-time?

I think B&W gives us a feel of the declining years of this region's battle with the elements over the ages.

Here is the photo that I did not include recently.
I did some "spot lighting" in the center of this photo to bring emphasis on the Mitten.

Is this effective or bothersome?

My vote is for the 3-butte pic. You're right about the B/W mode too. Great composition, a very pleasing photo. Congrats and keep on shootin'.
