I don't comment on your posts very often, but I do look and read with keen interest your explanation of lighting, poses, etc. I've learned alot from you and Russ Elkins, and Captain C, to name a few. I don't know where Mary is coming from, but if she leaves, it's no great loss to this community. Not everything fits someones preconceived notion of what is appropriate and what is not! I love your work and would love to stand in the background someday and watch you work! I'm in Vegas a few times a year, twice for Magic, and then on sales road trips. Carry On Dude!!

Well when you are in Vegas be sure to look us up. I run a meetup group here and attending one of our meetup workshops would give you the opportunity to see me in action as well as a chance to shoot in my studio with my models under my direction.

That would be so cool Bobby! I'm sure I can find you by googling The Real Deal, or Bobby Deal? I will be in Vegas at the end of a 7 state road trip, around Sept. 21/22/23rd. If you're in town I will make some time to come and see how you work. Thanks for the opportunity. Steve 949-374-7069

While I agree with Mary that complete nudity is going too far for my tastes, I do think Bobby may be the most talented photographer here, but I personally do not want to have to weed through nudes to see the rest. There's definitely beauty in nudity, but there's also porn, and I think the line can get pretty thin. I simply don't want to participate in that area. I'm not planning on shooting nudes and don't want to waste my time there. The thing I think is so appealing about this forum is the fact that we can all be comfortable here without feeling inferior to better photographers. We can learn from each other no matter what level. That's why I am here. Putting the nudity in a separate category seems like a good solution.

Gee - I have never seen nudes here. What category are they in now? I will have to check them out! Some of Bobby's photos certainly have some sexual energy, some strange fetishes, and other odds and ends, but gee, that's what makes life (not to mention his photos) so interesting. And I think Botticelli's "Birth of Venus" has some sexual energy as well...and few would dispute it's place as one of the finest paintings in history. Bobby - do you ever work with big clamshells?

Define clamshells
Are you talking literally as in giant clam shells from the ocean
Or
Giant clamshells as in dual 5' octoboxes set up in a clamshell lighting pattern

This is a tempest in a teapot. Bobby and Russ have been founts of information that they have freely shared with many here. Quite honestly I avoid the the people pictures of grand kids and kids in general. Yeah, I have them too but I don't presuppose they are as endearing or attractive to others as they are to me by posting pics here. Those who want to I say go for it but let's not pressure real talent to go elsewhere due to some overly sensitive silliness.

I enjoy your pictures not because they show flesh but because you are an excellent photographer. The grand kids pictures are just snap shots taken by so called photographers will out your skill!

To each his/her own. Don't sweat it (I know you are not). I have run across a few prudes in my stupid posts.

Yes, I take flower pics, grandkid pics, butterfly and bird pics. The guy who sold me my camera said that it even takes photos of naked women. That has not happened yet and I am very disappointed.

However, you know that you have helped me with my grandkid pics with your advice. A long time ago, Russ helped me with some portraiture techniques that I now use every time I shoot whether or not I am shooting a person.

Captain C does not like flower pics. Either do I actually, but it does help me to hone my technical skills with some natural lighting that he has taught me.

Oh, and I would rather look at one of your photos any day over a cat or a tree or a mountain. Nothing wrong with looking at a picture of a beautiful woman, especially when the poster explains the reason for the session and volunteers his experience and techniques used freely for others to learn from.

As the manager of the People Section I will be looking a lot closer to the images that are posted in this section. If there were nudes posted it was either before I took over as manager or I just missed them, and I'm sorry if that is the case.

I have been here a while and do not remember ever seeing nudes. That certainly does not mean it never happened.
