The photo is perfect! Were you at 1000/sec?
Bravo!
How close were you? what time of day? did you use flash?
I'm still trying to get the little critters used to my presence.

Geesus! You guys are too kind. Shot approximately 30 feet away, 9:06 am on 8-19-2014, Canon D70, 100-400mm L series lens at 400, f/8, ISO 400, speed 1/640, post processed a little with Corel Paintshop Pro 6, Topaz plugin. This is a JPEG image. Still not as sharp as I would like at the bottom tail feathers. But it's the best I have been able to muster this year. Perfect it is not, but I'm proud of it and thank you so much for taking the time to comment.
Great shot! Do the feeders for hummers need to be away from the seed feeders for larger birds? Any advice on the placement of them? I've read that they shy away from other larger birds.

Thank you very much. I'm certainly not an expert on ornithological things. Our hummingbird feeder is approximately 25 feet from the seed feeder.

yes, move them away from other feeders. hummers are super territorial and likely fast enough to escape injury from larger birds, but.....
and nice photo as well
