Found this fellow looking to feed on some peanuts in the feederat a local nature walk. I am not big on bird identification so I don't know if this is a Starling or a Blackbird.

It's a Grackle. Son calls them "rats on wings". In the fall and spring here in San Antonio you would think you are on the movie set of Alfred Hitchcock's "Birds".

They seem to take over where ever they are. Will waste food and run other birds off.

I agree, Grackle, we have been overrun with them in the last 1 1/2 years here.

You did a good job on the photos!!! Very nice to see the iridescent blues and hint of purples in the bird!

yup, Grackle. I have a lot of them by my house. Beautiful iridescence but a nuisance. Cheers.

Grackle....and please keep them in your neighborhood. They drain a bird-feeder in a matter of an hour leaving the songbirds scrounging for food.

Love the third one,and the iridescent blues...aren't they the one's that lay their egg(s)in another birds nest???Then when they are hatched, they are bigger than the others and they end up killing the others because the "mom"can't keep them fed???

While it is an attractive bird they are very frustrating. If you have bird feeders they basically sling the seed all over the place while feeding which makes keeping your feeders full kinda costly

Watch them fly, they turn their tails to a vertical.
