I have been using it for a couple of years now, and even if I switch back to the shutter button for a day I now find my thumb hitting the back button automatically

When you first start make a note, I was out and it took me about 10 minutes to figure out why the camera would not focus.

I used it for awhile and liked it. I've since gone back to using the AE/AF button for AE/AF lock to help me frame my photos better.

I started using it about 2 years ago and wished I had done it sooner. Its especially great when your photographing a particular thing you don't have to worry about refocusing it every time you hit the shutter button

Once you use BBF you will not go back to shutter button focusing

Your best bet is to google it. I think I saw a tube video on setting it. It's very easy.

OK. It sounds like a great thing to do. Been wanting to try it. I have a D-300. Can someone walk me thru the process i.e., 1,2,3, etc.? Thanks.

Don't know Canon. but in your menu system look for focusing with AF button only-I think.

I use it all the time as well....learned this a few months ago, and now it is simply habit. However, I just enabled yesterday an interesting menu item. Since the AE-AL button is now assigned to AF-ON, I have no exposure lock. I found that I could assign the shutter button - half-way point, to be the AE-L. So now I have the best of both worlds...BBF and AE-L! Really helps with composition as I can now compose the focus, and then assign exposure, and then take a picture.

The only negative thing about BBF is that using a remote shutter release will not activate auto focus.
You must either revert to as it was or pre focus manually.
Also, letting someone else take a shot with your cam may be confusing to that person

Okay Okay. We can hear you! Please don't YELL.

Anyway. Use back button focus exclusively. That way when I recompose after selecting my focus point, I don't have to worry about autofocus kicking in when I push the shutter button.
