Hello there,
I looked at the plugins in PP and downloaded the 'wireworm' plugin. However, I am confused as the download contains two files - wireworm.8bc and wireworm.chm. What do I do with these?
Regards
Keith

Right click on the edited image, choose Export and fill in the dialogues. The originals will not change, the exported images will show the improvements you have made.

My wife and I were in Europe on a river cruise with some other couples. One of our friends had been shooting pictures in Paris and returned to the boat very upset because suddenly all his images were very dark. He thought his camera was broken. I took a look and realized he had inadvertently underexposed his shots by three stops. I put the camera back to a normal setting and told him (without thinking) that I thought I could post process and brighten his images for him. Now home, I popped them into Lightroom increased exposure, sync'd them with some other minor adjustments and voila, they looked much better. Then realized Lightroom does not make permanent changes and without Lightroom he would not see the corrections. There are 118 images and I could put each in Photoshop but before doing so I wonder if there is anything else I can do that will make this quick and easy?

Your friend can download a FREE 30 day trial of Lightroom and see your edited changes, then he would have it too and can help himself.

As they say, "give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach him to fish and feed him for life."

You can export his pics as tiff or whatever also. but showing him how you got there might help him in the future.

In LR, go to Grid view in the Library module. Highlight all your photos and click on Export on the lower left. Fill in all the information and click ok and they will export to wherever you chose and whatever file format you chose.

Since they don't belong to you, I would make copies of each and give him both. That way, if sometime in the future he gets into post processing, he'll have the originals to work with. That will keep you out of potential hot water with him.

Not to get off topic here but the above post by Searcher is a great example of the type of the type of quality help one can get here. The only downfall is now I have another weeks worth of reading to do! :D Thank you Searcher for always furthering my photographic education with your great answers to questions!

Do not do this! Put them on a second card or on a disk or flash drive but do not erase his original shots.

While your post processing may be of a reasonable standard, the original files can be used to process in any number of ways. Some of which will be better than the results originally obtained.

If the friend wants to delete his photographs, thats fine, but don't assume you know best and destroy his property.
. You raise an interesting point. I think I will investigate cost of another card but from a philosophical perspective ask these questions. Has not my friend given me the authority if you will, to adjust and manage these photos as I see fit? Am I to incur personal cost as well as contribute my time and talent?
I am reluctant to erase his previous images and if costs are nominal acquire a second card but will reserve the right not to do so if It costs more then I am willing to invest.
There is a third approach which is to contact him and allow him to decide, however, the I like the debate without that option.

There is an alternative, put the images on a dvd , a blank is just a few cents probably cheaper than the coffee i just drank or the cigarette i smoked (yes I know) I value my time higher than a few cents if i'm willing to work for free, i'm willing to donate a blank dvd to the cause.

Alternatively you could upload to a private picassa web album which he cold download the images from, or share with gdrive.

I do a lot of repair work on peoples systems and there are 2 sides to it. First getting the system working again if possible Secondly but perhaps more importantly I attempt to rescue as much data as possible. Even stuff which is probably valueless but I don't make choices with other peoples data. I also choose not to poke through data either. People can have all sorts of private information that I shouldn't know and don't care to know.
