May seem like a silly question, but here goes. I have some older Pentax (50mmf1.8) and Mamiya (50mmf1.2) from film days. Is there anyone who makes adapters that I could use on a Nikon D3100? I understand that it would all be manual etc, but that is OK. Would it be practical to try to do this when you can buy new or refurb for a couple of hundred dollars. Just trying to use some old equipment. Thanks for any input.

You may want to check your Mamiya lens, jc. It may be a 50mm f/1:2, and NOT f/1.2. (note the difference :/.). A 50mm f/1:2 is actually an f/2.0 not a 1.2. Different nomenclature.

Good point about the Mamiya lens... Lots of people put bids in on older Nikkor F2 lenses thinking they are F1.2 lens on eBay....... There are enough older Nikkor & Nikon mount 3rd party lenses inexpensively enough on eBay that it isn't worth adapting older Non Nikon mount lenses to Nikon DSLR's

Well, after good results adapting my older Yashica F 1.2 M42 screw lens to my Canon T1i.... I decided I needed to try my two old Canon FD lenses with an adapter....... Fairly economical via EBay/China with glass and focus confirm...... Certainly not the great results that I had with the M42 adapter..... talk about losing f stops .......what should have been f8 @ 1/125 ended up being f1.8 @ 1/60. Even the infinity produced a soft focus...at least experience is a good teacher....twenty some bucks and a twenty some day wait a cheap lesson.
