Roman coins bought on line, cleaned up using electrolyzes.
Roman coin before being cleaned
Roman coin after cleaning. These coins are poor specimens
The better specimens are kept by collectors
It's fun to hold a two thousand year old coin in your hand
To polish these coins did you use a rock polisher, in the same manner of that you polish rocks.

I had one when I was young.
It was from England and about 300 A.D.

Thanks for viewing my photos of old coins, gonate. No, a rock polisher was not used in the coin cleaning. Electrolyzes was used. A low voltage amplifier was used. One wire was attached to the coin. The other wire was attached to a metal conductor, in this case a washer. The two wires were suspended in a container of brine water and the power was turned on. Several hours later, a coin appears.
Thank you for your reply, very interesting. as well as a good job of cleaning the coins. Great photos :D

Have a friend that has 300 plus of biblical coins, all catalogued, he can't find out the values on them. He would like to sell. Most are in good condition, especially for age.
Very interesting coins; incredible how the cleaning really brought out the details.
