I am new to photography and I recently bought a Fujifilm Model: S8400 digital camera. Anyone have any suggestions on the camera?
Welcome to the Hog, kbarnes36. You'll find lots of friends & plenty of good advice here. I'm not a Fuji user but, I'm sure someone will follow shortly who can answer your questions.

I have the S8300 (basically the same camera, shorter zoom)...it's not a bad camera given the price (I paid ~$125), my biggest complaint is that you can't use filters. I found an adapter on Amazon that will enable me to use 58mm filters on it, it should be in this week. I took it to the zoo last week and a polarizer really would've been nice. It can be slow to focus, and has a hard time in low contrast shots. You'll need a tripod for long zoom shots. Once it gets the focus, it does good pictures. I've found the SRAuto setting works best.
Here's a link for the adapter...

Take a look at the Baltimore Camera Club - Very likely you can get a lot of help there also.

What are you interested in doing? What is your budget?

Uhh...enjoy it and take a lot of pictures?
Good advise, my budget is low right now but I eventually get what I want, what are you suggesting?

Well, I asked about the type of photography you're interested in to try to narrow down camera type; pocket, ILC/mirror less, or DSLR. Each has certain advantages depending on the application.
And the budget question is to narrow down your choices within the camera type.
Once you know what you would LIKE to do, then it's a heckova lot easier to make a decision on the type of camera you want and need. ;)

Welcome. Sorry i can't answer your question, but my best suggestion is to read the manual. From front to back, and then from back to front. :D
