Apple will make a patch to migrate Aperture to iPhoto and you can already get to Lightroom from there.
Apple is replacing iPhoto and Aperture with Photo which they hope will be an inducement for a Cloud subscription. It might work.
What was not included in this topic was the fact Apple to producing a new App called Photos and they want to transition current IPhoto & App. users in 2015.
I love my DVD maker. Nobody can erase it or shut it down or charge me to use it. It reminds me of the Rolling Stones hit "Hey, hey, he, he, get offa my cloud". Putting my personal photos on a coporate server is just frigging nuts.
Scott Kelby will have a "free Webinar on how to make the switch from Aperture or iPhoto over to Lightroom quick, painless and easy" Check out his FB page, he will have the link up tomorrow.
Never mind all of these photo processing updates. I'm still waiting for a firmware up date for my Leica M3!

Thanks SueMac, read this AM that Apple is working with Adobe to provide a "Migration" path for current Aperture users. I didn't put much credibility in the comment but after your suggestions, maybe it could happen.

That statement was made by TECHCRUNCH and since retracted.

I just now spoke to an Apple guy on my one-on-one session....I ask him about I-photo and Aperture... they are going away, but will continue to work on your computer. but no more upgrades to either program, by Apple. my trainer is also a photographer ...and he says he will just wait for the latest version of what apple thinks will be called PHOTO, he tells me it will incorporate I-photo and Aperture into one program. so if you like the color changes, the curve and the sharpen of aperture, it will all be incorporated into one program. if he (or you/me) like it...stick with the new program, otherwise going to Lightroom.
my plan is to wait and see what/how the new photo app will operate

This may be a prime opportunity for Adobe to grab many current Aperture users. Something tells me that Adobe software engineers may be writing a program to make migrating Aperture to Lightroom much easier!
