My wife and I visited the Texas City, Texas Museum. They have a new display of a Dahlgren 9inch Cannon from the USS Westfield that was destroyed in the Battle of Galveston. This 10,000 pound cannon was recovered in 2009 from the wreckage and sent to Texas A&M College for preservation treatment. This is an interesting old beast, one of 1,200 made during the Civil War. In one of the pictures is a section of armor plate from the USS Westfield displayed next to the cannon. The rest of the photos of the museum can be seen at:
