Hi, I've just gotten back into photography and need some feedback on these photos. I have a Nikon d7100. I have to admit I took them without a tripod (maybe it's obvious) but I have one on the way (Manfrotto with ball head). This too is my first attempt to upload photos to UHH, so let me know if I've failed at accomplishing this and instruct me. Thanks for looking.

My favorite in this group is the second. The first one is nice; but there is not really any wow factor to it. It needs more of a point of interest. The third one is also not bad. But that second shot has nice composition and nice color. I like it.

If you'd like us to get a good close up look at your pix, click "store original" to the right of the pix you upload. just a suggestion.

#2 of original post is definitely an eye-catcher. What PP program do you use, if any? #1 seems to need more "clarity" & maybe a tad more contrast. My thoughts only.

I like this set better than the first. However the horizon on the sunset photo needs a lot of straightening.

Are you sure you're clicking on "store original" when you upload?

Super sea and sky, for the macros, I would like to see the whole flower, rather than lose part of it. Just my opinion, Lovely to have you here, enjoy. Cheers, Nancy J

Hi and thank you for your comments. I see the straightening issue, it's actually pretty bad. You are not the first to ask me about the "store original" question. I'm positive I checked the box, what specifically is the issue that it appears I did not check the box? Maybe that will help me.

Thank you Nancy. I still have a great deal to learn. I need to read and practice, read and practice. I tend to go too fast and really want photography to help me slow down (in life in general) and force me to look at all the details.

I just saw that you are from New Zealand, what an absolutely beautiful place. You are fortunate to be living there.

Thank you KT. I too like #2 but its a bit out of focus. I tried to shoot it without a tripod.

I'm not sure what PP is, can you clarify.

PP = post processing, kind of what developing and any kind of darkroom manipulation was to film. There is a whole section on the Hog devoted to it.

For instance, your slanted horizon can be fixed with almost every PP software program, of which there are many. Use the "search" at the top of the forum page to learn about it, or "google" if you must.
