The resolution of this pix is only 72dpi which is fine for computer monitors and lousy for printing. Is there a preferred resolution/size for the photo gallery on this site?

Don't worry about resolution on here, just pixel dimensions.
The thumbnails that are displayed are no more than 600 pixels wide and/or 800 pixels tall. If you make a COPY and RE-SIZE it to those dimensions you will have fast upload times and the photo will look good but not be worth stealing.
If you have a photo that is larger than that and you want us to see the FULL detail, just make sure the file size is no more than 10MB and then click on the "Store Original" box which will let people 'download' the pic for closer scrutiny.
