What causes this?

I'm not talking about the shutter curtain lag. That was caused by shooting at 1/640 sec. when your flash sync speed is only 1/250 sec.

Rather, I am talking why is the kid still sitting on the console after I told him 3 times to get off of it and sit properly; and he is smiling about it?

1st buy a new camera.
2nd buy a new kid.

That's funny! Enjoy your kid while you can - mine are grown and their being home with us are now fond memories.

I literally have 100,000 shutterclicks on my camera and I bet the majority of them are of the grandkids. I am not going to make the same mistake twice! Lol.
