I have the nikon d5100 with the 18-55 mm lens and 55-200mm lense interested in 1 lense that will take care of both with more zoom. Don't want to keep changing lenses. Recommendations?
Buy another camera. Put a lens on each one. No more need to change lenses. You may need a pack mule to tote the two cameras around if you don't like carrying all that weight.

Hi Carol. The walk around I am in love with is the 28-300. It does everything I want. I carry 2 other lenses when I am out playing. The 17-55 and the 10.5 fisheye. Makes for a light bag.:)

I can think of 5 lenses that might fit your needs.

2. Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM/C @ $399.00
Prices per Sigma's web site.
3. Tamron 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 XRDi II @$200.00 (Amazon)
4. tamron 18-270 f3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD @419.00 (Amazon)

I highly recommend the Nikkor 18-200mm lens. Mine has been on my D7000 for three months and has not come off. There are some great deals on factory refurbs of this lens. For a new one, it came down in price recently to around $597. at most authorized Nikon dealers.

You could buy an SX50 and see how you like that! 8-)
Keep in mind, most zooms are not as sharp
as a prime lens.

I looked at the 18-300 Nikkor and ended up with the Sigma 18-250 for $349 and love it as an everyday lens. I have a Nikkor 55-300 that is sharper at the long end and has a bit more reach. The 18-55 kit lens is a little wider angle at 18mm, but the Sigma is a great walking around lens at a good price point. It is equal to the Nikons in the middle of its range, since each zoom lens has a "sweet" spot. I don't miss many shots while changing lenses anymore. I intentionally setup and use my other lenses now when they are called for, but the 18-250 is almost glued to my D5200 most of the time.
On my D7100, the 18-200 stays on all the time. On my D800, I walk around with my 70-200 ninety percent of the time. Mr. PC, I had Precision Camera fine focus adjust 3 lenses yesterday. It cost under a hundred dollars. Service was great and I'm happy with the tuning.
TucsonCoyote made a good point. Instead of a new lens, buy a bridge camera with decent zoom capabilities, and you will never need to change lenses; it's all there in one package.
And I can keep that one with me all the time!
I really love my 18-200mm lens with the VR II, covers the same range as both of your, all in one lens...
I have had a Nikon D 90 for a number of years and have been thinking of buying a D 7100.
My question is; Would I really gain anything? I am reluctant to buy the D610 and then buy new glass to complete the justification of a full frame camera. The $$$ are a consideration.
Thanks
