How many times do people have to tell you that the CC deal has NOTHING to do with storing your images on line?

Or about 2.5 gallons of unleaded. Or slightly more than a six pack of premium beer.

   Dumbest marketing move Adobe ever made was to use the term 'Cloud' in this program. If they would re-label the program they would probably get a 30% or better increase in subscribers who are no longer confused about storage and access.
Or they simply could have explained it on the ads and sign up page.

Psych, you could buy LR5 and that will handle all your needs for all current camera bodies raw files. Then if you need to do more intensive editing such as layering, text, filters etc, you can transfer the image from LR5 to CS5. Otherwise, go with a subscription to CC and it will always be up to date for new camera bodies.

I have been using Photoshop almost since I went digital in 2001. But I have not renewed for the newest versions, where you must subscribe on a Monthly basis. I'm curious to hear from people who have used the newer on line versions, as to whether or not they offer any new features that might be worthwhile. Also curious if the newer versions will handle RAW processing for the newer Canon cameras. I still use Photoshop CS5. But it's not going to work on the newer RAW files, and I wish to get a new Canon DSL, probably the Mark III. I've always preferred the Photoshop tools to edit RAW files.

Is the new Photoshop CC worth it? I was pissed when they went this way and was skeptical that they had any new stuff that might be worth it.

I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with. I have no misconceptions about how the CC package works, nor where the photos or software are stored. I have made several posts correcting misconceptions on how the concept works, not only since it started but today alone. Go back through and check posts I have made on this thread alone. MY problem will be, when I eventually go there, that it will become another monthly bill to pay. No matter how affordable or how much you get for your money, it still becomes a monthly bill. For many, that is a huge mental issue, especially for older people who have been trained all their lives to pay everything off whenever possible, keep your monthly bills down and put your money in the bank.

Sorry, I thought you were making a point that many people were worried about a monthly bill as the main reason for not jumping onto PS CC. I agree with most everything you said, I was only disagreeing with that one reason as being the main reason for not going with CC. Again apologies as I didn't realize you were talking about only you!

I have CS6 which I upgraded from CS5. I got a deal on CS5 so I ended up paying around $600 for CS5 and the upgrade to CS6. Now I subscribe to CC for $120/yr. I can subscribe for five years before I reach what I spent on CS5 and CS6 and under the old plan in five years I would be on CS9 and probably have spent another $900 upgrading. (Assuming upgrade every 18 months for $299) If you use Photoshop then the Photoshop CC subscription is a much better deal. Plus you get the latest Lightroom version and Lightroom mobile for iPhone and iPad and maybe someday Android phones and tablets.

Or just get Elements which has many of the features of a Photoshop and Lightroom combined package.

...I've been buying PS updates since PS 2 and plan on using PS heavily for the foreseeable future. 10 bux a month is a pittance in comparison to my previous expenses, not to mention the Lightroom side of things (of which I am also a power user). I love the way both interact...so I just cut the DVD half of my Netflix bill and pointed it towards Adobe.

I have to agree with this. I would like the option to pay on a yearly basis.

Actually, I bet you can. I was in Best Buy the other day and saw where you could purchase Adobe CC Photoshop and Lightroom for $120.00. That would mean to me that you could pay the money up-front and be done with it for a year. I would also expect you could pay ahead just to be able to cover things like vacation?? Should be easy enough to check out.

You can pay yearly. I just looked around the Adobe web site and I could not find a thing about limits on the $9.99/month for cc & lr that were there a couple days ago when I signed up.

Before signing up, I read around online and came upon a site that said that Adobe's prices for cloud access have been dropping as more people sign up, and the author of that article predicted that trend to continue (I apologize that I cannot cite that, for I do not remember where I read it.)

Yes, it is worth it - especially with the Lightroom bundle.
