Everyone can photograph food photos because we all eat food. The lenses used to make your picture is not as important as where you place your dish of food to be photographed.
You can make photos of your breakfast, lunch, or your fine dinner anytime you wish too! These photos I'm showing were made by placing the dish of food on the cutting board. No studio lighting was set-up (although I have them to use). The only light illumining the dish of food came from the window on right, the overhead ceiling, and light from under the cabinet. That's it, no lights added.
The photo of the egg dish was made with my LUMIX GX-7 and Olympus 12-40mm at 40mm = 80mm on 35mm format. (I'm using m4/3 format). Aperture f3.2 ISO 1600. 1/60 sec.
Pasta photo was made with LUMIX GX-7 and Olympus 17mm f1.8 lens = 34mm on 35mm format at f1.8 ISO 3200. 1/640 sec.
Fish photo was made with LUMIX GX-7 & Olympus 17mm f1.8 lens at f2, 1/200 sec. ISO 1600.
You do not have to be an experienced food photographer. You compose a food photo like you would any other image. You do not need special lenses. I'm sure what you're using is fine and will make a great photo. You'll have plenty of practice. We eat everyday! Different foods, different photo's! I cooked all photos shown! CIAO, AP

My third food "Pasta" dish did not go through. Of course it was my fault, don't know how to correct it. In talking about food. Like photography, be creative. In the egg dish you can add anything you want, this includes your favorite seasons & spices.
Composure is your eye of seeing. Why can a photo you make be better by someone else ?
Think about what your trying to do. Always have FUN do it, & THINK HAPPY THOUGHTS ! HOW'S THAT . . . CIAO, AP

Thank You (ebbote) for your observation. Simplicity is the hardest accomplishment. I will now say, digital outweighs film. You have to think about it. CIAO, AP
