Just sent my D600 in for the clean/service/new shutter mechanism. This was thru Nikons recall, well they don't really call it a recall. Long story short they have received it but I'm leaving the country in 21 days from today. When I asked about the turn around time I could not get a straight answer or even a ball park estimate. Has anyone sent their camera in under this recall and can give me some hope of receiving my camera back in time?? Sweating it here in Florida....
Got mine back about a week ago. Turn around time about 18 days. I hear some are shorter. Good luck in may be close.

I had two done - NY to NY, so it was a one-day trip through the PO. The first camera took a little over a week. The second one was delayed waiting for parts. That took three weeks. I bet they're caught up with parts by now.
Thanks Guys,

Man that sounds like maybe 2 weeks...ouch!! Maybe plan on renting a 610 and deal with it when you get back.
A signature will be required for delivery. If you are going to be gone for a while you may want to contact delivery company and ask them to hold it for you.

Mine took one week minus 1 hour the first time. Went for second trip in under 30 days. D600 disappeared on second trip and reappeared as D610 in no more than a week total. Two returns a couple phone conversations a rebuild and a total replacement all took less than 15 days including weekends. Wishing you the same luck and quality service.
I have sent 4 D600s in for the shutter replacement, the longest turn-around time was exactly 2 weeks.

Twelve very long days for me. They basically won't tell you anything despite the fact that I had a shoot and needed to know whether to rent a camera or not. As the package was being walked up to the door, the woman on the phone was telling me my camera was waiting for parts. Clearly, their inventory system is not to be trusted.
Mine came back in about a week. I sent it the day the switch was announced, and I am located across the Hudson River from Melville, so they got it the next day. I probably beat the rush.
2 weeks would be perfect as I just bought a 6 month old, New version of the nikon 80-400mm from a photography friend, arrives to me on the 26th. That leaves 6 or 7 days to get comfortable with the new system. Going back to Costa Rica again Finally. Hopefully with the last 2 yrs of practice I can bring home some real keepers. Thanks for giving me Hope of a good turn around time..
I got my D600 back in two weeks with the new shutter. It did not correct the oil spraying problem. I reported this and Nikon replaced my D600 with a D610. Problem solved. Good luck.
