It is a bad business model. Most people want to buy a software license so they can use it. We do not want to be forced into monthly payments. We also want a cd copy. Here the Adobe die hard applauded the idea when first released. Common users can not justify paying a subscription if they are not making money out of their photography.

I recently broke down and purchased the Nikon D 7100. It has two card slots which allows me to save a picture in JPEG on one and Raw on the other

I have been shooting JPEG up to recently. I understand the virtues of raw
And have been shooting Raw lately. I have been doing all my photographic editing in Picasa. Now shooting Raw I understand there's more information to work with so I am looking for a photo editing program that will allow me to take advantage of the additional information. I would appreciate any recommendations

Only shoot raw, lightroom 5 and Photoshop CS4 for fine tuning.

Is Perfect Photo Suite 8.5 ($80) comparable to Photoshop in use and ease of use: i.e... easy to learn. What are its weak points vs. good points. Tony

Can anyone put a factual basis on the RAW conversion issue with Paintshop Pro X6? Lots of emotion usually stating it is worthless and get "any good plug in", if true what is a really good plugin for X6?

PaintShop Pro (PSP) X6 Ultimate will use most of the plugins that Photoshop uses. Topaz, NIK, Redfield, AKVIS, and a host of others. There are literally hundreds of plugins that work with PSP. The RAW conversion is probably PSP's weakest link. However, in my humble opinion, there is a free program called Raw Therapee that is as good a RAW converter as there is. And, Corel has another program called Aftershot Pro 2 which I have an idea will give Lightroom a real run for the money. Don't let the tunnel visioners talk you into any program. Download some free trials and try them out for yourself. PSP X6 Ultimate is my main post processing program and I have found very little that I can't do with it. Much cheaper and easier to learn than lightroom and photoshop and will do everything you need to do for years. Good luck with whatever program you decide on.

Comparing Perfect Photo Suite to Photoshop is like comparing a cup of water to the ocean. What Perfect Photo Suite does is only a small part of what Photoshop can do. If you want to take full avantage of Photoshop, be prepared to do a lot of training.
