OK, So I am convinced that putting a watermark on my work id a good thing. My thinking is this: Even if some wants my pic without my permission, they will take off the web somehow, so I might as well put my mark on it and they can remove it if they want (the scoundrels!)
My question is this: How do I get my water mark on on the image in the first place?
My budget is non existent to so free is great!. Picasa, or Gimp? Or any other freebies?

stegnography the art of hiding additional information in pictures Google can probably find you more information just use safe mode as it can be used for unsavory purposes.

Personally I don't bother with anything although perhaps I should put contact details in the Exif.

I would be quite flattered if my work got stolen well it wouldn't be the raw file anyway. If people like my photographs its a bonus, it won't stop me taking more if they don't :)

If I found people selling my photographs it would be a great sign that I should be doing so too. Maybe I should do a deal with the person making money out of my photo's after all they are marketing them. Don't all retailers do this make a profit selling other peoples work?

Life is too short to worry about the money you don't make.
Consider the owner of this site probably makes a few bucks from it essentially from the posts people make. Should you be paid to post?

TSR Watermark Image (https://www.watermark-image.com/) has a "Trial" version that is FREE. It says it adds a tag line somewhere that indicates you are using a trial version, but I haven't found it on anything I have used it on yet. However, for $30 you can get their "Professional" version with a few more features.

Once you learn how to use it, very easy and you can add a "Graphic" as your watermark. Picasa lets you add a "Text Only" watermark during the 'export' function I believe.

OR, ANY software that uses layers will allow you to drop a watermark anywhere on a photo relatively easily, but TSR Watermark Image makes it VERY EASY to add a watermark and store the watermarked image in a separate location from the original "unmarked" version.

EDIT: Looks like the "UnRegistered" version now shows a note, but the minimum paid version is very reasonable.
