I spend 1/2 a year in one place and the other 1/2 in another so, with 2 printers, I'm constantly fighting the battle of clogged print heads. Try soaking the cartridge print heads in very warm water for up to 1/2 hour. This usually does it for me.

HP says used filtered, distilled or bottled water and lint free cloth. I use a surgical hand towel. If rollers are real dirty rubbing alcohol works well, don't use too much, cloth just damp. Print heads, use water and cloth. You will get ink everywhere if you are not careful.

If you don't have print heads on your print, use a mild solution of dish detergent and warm water, wiping gently with a lint-free cloth dampened in the solution.

You're quite welcome. After you've removed all soap residue and the print is dry, I'd recommend spraying on a clear-coat (check an art supply store).

I like Desert Varnish Lacquer Spray, from Light Impressions.com.

Opps! I should have my glasses on when I read posts. I saw 'clean inkjet printer'.

I've used Canon, Epson, and HP, and clogging has never been a problem. Just lucky, I guess. After a lengthy discussion here a few months ago, I now leave my printers on all the time. That saves ink, and uses almost no electricity. For the occasional cleaning of random ink on the body, I use alcohol on a rag. I do a lot of printing on discs, and the carrier gets filthy fast.

I have successfully used a paper towel soaked in old style Windex. It goes in the track under the print head when the printer is turned off and unlocked (you have to pull the plug to do this). If it sits overnight to a few days (with rewetting), the vapors unclog the jets. If you have recurrent clogs, it's likely the ink you are using is an improper formulation.

The only thing I can use is "Surgical Spirit" If it cleans up ink splls it should clean the jets.

If the heads are really bad, un-park the heads and soak the pad where the heads sit with distilled water. Park the heads and then let them sit for at least 12 hours. Then do a normal maintenance cleaning cycle. This works for me.

IF you can determine the brand of paper used for the print, I'd think asking the paper's maker for advice would give you the best results. Maybe contact an archivist at a big library or museum?

Good luck
