today when I take the camera out, i heard some noise that is coming out from the lens when I shake it, on shooting I don't see anything, but something is loose inside for sure. Did anyone has this before?
I have this for about 1.5 yrs only.
I will call for service next week.

Hope it's OK. I just got the latest model of this lens and love it. Not near as wide an angle of view as my Nikon 1-55 at 18mm nor near as sharp as my Nikon 55-300 totally zoomed in, but it's a great walking around lens for everything in between. Does the lens make the noise when it's not on the camera? If so, this would rule out something being caused by the camera's autofocus or other powered option like the VR.

Have you taken off any filters you may have on it? Like a polarizer? Or UV filter?

yes, i did.
but from the lens point of view, how reliable is the structure, is this type of lens so so, my old ai nikon 105 2.5 is still nice and solid after 35 yrs.

I had one of these lenses and it did the same thing. When I started looking into it, a metal L shaped piece of metal fell out of it. It was out of warranty, so I tossed it. It had something to do with the zoom function. I could still take pics but zoom would not hold. Sounds like a common problem. BTW, they wanted more to fix than it was worth to me.

Does the lens have Vibration reduction? Some VR lenses will make a noise when shaken caused by the gyro in the lens moving and is normal. This may not the cause in your case, but it's something to look into.

you are right, I hope for the best. since i like this lens a lot, compare to the nikon 18-55, it is just a toy and waste of money.
