http://www.chron.com/news/politics/houston/article/Mayor-drops-bathroom-provision-from-5474575.php?cmpid=bnaAlthough evidently saner heads prevailed and got this wonderful bathroom provision omitted from Mayor Parker's edict, why in the hell was it in there in the first place???
How about it, Tim Shaw??? Rix Pix?? Silver???
How about it, dljen....how would you feel if your mother/ sister/ daughter/ grand daughter, or female friend had to share what was once considered "safe haven", with a 'package heavy' visitor? How would you, Tim....How would you, Rix....How would you, Silver, feel about your baby sister learning about the opposite gender plumbing by having it shoved in their face??
I know there are stories circulating around the net now decrying that this is now the law in Houston. That ain't true, but it came oh, so close! It was those closed minded, bible thumping, conservative "homophobes" who threw the monkey wrench, albeit after a lengthy battle, into mayor Parker's plan.
Again....why was it even a part of the plan???
Commence firing!!!
Wow....I guess this is a rather benign subject!!

It is what they wanted !!
In order to not to offend anyone, someone must be offended so as to not to offend anyone. I know, it does not make any sense but if you are offended by sharing the same toilet with the opposite sex, you can not offend those who offend you.

We taught our son about the 'plumbing thing' using children's books that were available when he was three or four years old. Worked out fine, kids are smarter than YOU!
Went to a popular restaurant recently which had two "unisex" bathrooms, each with a single commode and a lockable door. Thus, you see, men could choose, women could choose, transgender folk could choose, and no one would get a surprise, assuming folks have enough sense to LOCK THE DOOR!!!!!

Excuse, please.
As I read it, those closed mouthed, bible thumping, conservative "hemophobes" were against this ordinance.

Read it any way you want. It was those folks mentioned, who have been labelled all the names shown, and worse, who finally saw that sanity prevailed. Hemophobes??? I hope you have messed up the spelling, because 'hemophobes" makes no logical sense.
Now as far as those who advance that "unisex" bathrooms have made this a moot point, I'm not talking about a room that any gender can go in, BY THEMSELVES, in private, and take care of bodily needs. I'm talking about the allowing of any gender(male, female, whatever) to occupy the same facilities at the same time. Is this what you want your child/sister/mother/grandmother, to face? Is this the future to you, and we had better get used to it? Is "In Your Face, Every Place" the new mantra you wish to follow?
And as far as the bright one who deflected the point of this thread by letting us know that a childs book of, I guess, "birds and bees" will prepare his son/ daughter for the day when he/she will come eye to eye with the real thing in a "truly" public restroom, I pity you.
