Can any one tell me what is the best manual available for Photoshop Elements 12. I am moving up from version 5. Appreciate any input or information as to where to look Ron

I only have 11, but I would strongly recommend Photoshop Elements 12 Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby (I have the 11 book, but believe the 12 one is as good).

I had the Missing Manuals book when I had PSE 6, but did not like it. Although very comprehensive, I found it hard to find what I wanted. The Kelby book is not as complete but it does a great job of taking you through the more useful and important aspects of the program.

Ron, that's a tough one, because you cannot avoid personal preferences with the answers to this question.

Adobe itself has a manual on-line for download:
http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/photoshop-elements_reference.pdf

I have a subscription to Photoshop Elements Techniques, and enjoy flipping through the real paper magazine. The tutorials are very good as well:

YouTube seems to be a never-ending resourse:

"The missing manual" comes with good recommendations, although I have never used it:

"Teach yourself visually" is a series I have used for other subjects and find very good. The photos in the book are very clear:

Then there is always the "play" method: Open a file (image or blank), pick a tool (any tool), or an item from the menu line, and start playing with it, while you observe what happens. Not the most effective way of learning, but sure can be a lot of fun (or frustration ;) )

I have "Photoshop Elements 12 for Dummies." Barbara Obermeier. Seems to cover about everything :)

However, if you've already used 5 extensively, seems like you wouldn't need "how to" so much as "where is"

I bought that one prior to the Dummies. It has a great layout, but very basic and most definitely for the brand-new user.

Kelby and Photoshop Elements Techniques have been very helpful to me although the majority of my edits seem to be restricted to LR.

Another vote for the Kelby/Klosowski book. I have it and it gives good, understandable step by step instructions. Ebook copy available from Books-a-Million for $23.00, hard copy $32.00

another vote "For Dummies", mainly because I have it and it 'works'. (Also playfully irritates my daughter at UCLA to see me with a book that says 'For Dummies' on it.)
