Me thinks a new vet is in order. Even the specialists in a fancy building in Dallas don't charge that much. Back surgery on a Doxie ran $2500 not even $25,000.[/quote]
I added a little color to the story.....it's like a movie that's based on a true story..........the story is true but the movie takes artistic license.

Funny post...but on a serious note, your dog is 22 years old? I had two poodles back to back...both lived to see 17 years old and were puppy-like almost to the very end, sight and hearing fine...although the first one wound up losing a few teeth.
He's a very deaf and blind 17.......... he's missing a few teeth....the ones he has left are scheduled to be cleaned next week..................fricking vet must have more than one kid at Harvard.

Maybe I need to go back to school to become a vet. :-D
Maybe you should just start selling dog collars that say "DO NOT RESCUCITATE" or "MEDICAL FEES WILL NOT BE COVERED OVER $1000. PER INCIDENT" and sell them on Ebay.
Geez, this makes quite a good selling point for PET MEDICAL INSURANCE. Hey, now there's an idea !!!
Well this pet seems to have better health coverage than people do under the ObamaCare program.

The wife took our 156 year old poodle to the vet today........$395,000 later he came out with flying colors...no kidney probs...no liver probs.....He's blind as a bat and deaf as a stump........but he has a four year old body!!!!! The Vet had tears in his eyes..........I would too if someone just paid my kids Harvard tuition!!!
That is only for one semester! That's because his income will drop considerably with OBAMA Care next year. No! Wait! We'll need the vets to provide our own medical care.
Our 21 year old cat is still plugging along fairly well for now.
He doesn't know he is that old and we are NOT telling him.
Time for a reality check. Were you given a $$$ quote before hand? just curious. Lucky pet to have such loving owners.
Divide the cost by his age and you might feel a tiny bit better...maybe.
I just switched Vets. I went from a high classed vet and bldg. that sold me $30.00 shampoo for his so called allergy, to an older vet in a older bldg. that suggested fish oil ($10.00) for dry skin. The fish oil did the trick. Let alone in comparing the prices of vaccinations, flea/tick pills and office visit charges there was a considerable difference. She can get her rent elsewhere.
p.s. I just remembered your Net Geo post. Does this mean you can buy a $365,000 camera in exchange for keeping Fido healthy?
My little one is 14 yo, cataracts and deaf. She will be missed terrible when her time comes but for now she still loves her walks, her play time with her special toys. Also she is a great communicator.
Now my predicament - My vet just merged with another vet and built a brand new gorgeous building. The question is, do I seek another vet now before one is needed. I know I must check their prices first.
Play Time
Holly Her nuzzle & brows are now gray
JacLee, you may get lucky in that the merging will allow the two Vets to share costs and not raise their prices. I'd for sure come right out and ask if the move will affect their fees.. Your little dog is adorable.
