What do you mean "maxed out my ISO?" If anything, you want to reduce the ISO to your lowest setting to reduce the sensitivity, not max it out higher. I'm guessing like everyone else here that the f/stop has to be set manually via the lens. So you can use a hand held light meter to meter your subject, set the shutter speed, ISO in camera and then set the f/stop via the f/stop ring on the lens and then shoot.
