One was taken with the new Canon 6d and 24-105mmL lens with the Canon 430exii and one was taken with the outdated Canon T1i and a 50mm 1.8 lens with pop up flash . Can you tell a difference ?

Very pretty model! I like the composition and quality of the second of the two although the skin tones are more natural in the first. At least, that's how it is showing on my 27" monitor.

It doesn't matter to me if the settings are different, since as so many have said, all situations are different so cameras have to be set different foe each case. Those are the words of the ones who don't want explain their settings. Based solely on this, and not asking for the settings, which MUST. Be different, they look alike in quality to me from a distance. There is a little more graininess on the second when i zoom, but not much of a difference.

How can you do a test if the lighting is different, zoom in closer, or wait several hours between shots. or have a different angle of your subject.

The lighting was the same. The pictures were even taken at the same time. My mother had her camera and I had mine. The question is for the average hobbyist photographer out there if you can tell any difference in image quality between the two cameras. The full frame vs crop. The new technology vs old technology. I unsterstand the canon 6d has its advantages but for the average photo I am not able to tell much difference in the quality of the two. And the 6d was taken with the " luxury lens". While the other was taken by the $100 50mm.

First one "seems" better. That is my final answer. I understand what you are asking. When you compare photos on a contest taken with different cameras and makes, you can make a assessment, why not here?

First of all, why would you want to take a pic of this attractive girl against this crappy background?

I appreciate your showing these two "side by side" somewhat. ON MY SCREEN,
#1 seems sharper surprisingly to me, as I look at the eyes and the belt. My take-away is that today's digitals are for prosumers, as good as yesterdays film cameras.

Not a noticeable difference! now looking in more detail, It seems the first one had a stronger flash(reflection on mantel) than No.2 So the first would be the 6D and the second the other. Light is the essence of photography so... a pop-up does not help much. I am waiting for you to say which is which. First one may have a stronger flash unit and a great lens, second a good lens and a week flash. Or it could be all the way around!

The first one is the Canon 6d. I am not a pro. I take photos of my family and do some sports photos for other people. I was just looking for a bigger difference in the two cameras than I see here.

My conclusion: you are a great photographer and the camera does not make a difference. Congrats to the photographer because they look the same.
