Hello, I'm Ray from Pensacola, FL. After many years away from it, I have decided to get back into photography. I have just recently purchased a Nikon D5200, and I decided on the Nikon 18-105mm lens as my primary lens. I also have the Nikon 55-300mm lens. My main interest is landscape photography since I really enjoy getting out into nature. Secondarily, I yearn to get better with portrait photography. Anyway, I really feel like a "newbie" after so many years away from it, and will appreciate any help I might get from some of you old pros.

Welcome to the forum Ray. So you've been away a while? How about starting with a refreshed and looking into a book 'Learning to See Creatively' by Bryan Peterson. I think your choice to equipment for your interests is excellent.

Once again welcome.

Welcome to the Hog, Ray. You'll enjoy yourself here. I don't know about the "old PRO" qualification, but I do fill half that description. I'm older now than I've ever been and younger than I'll ever be. Main rule here: Enjoy!

[quote=Ray32506]Welcome Ray. One of the ways I learned was posting here and clicking on "store original" and ask for C & C. All camera data will be available and a better download for quality. Members can give you specific tips. David

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I look forward to getting to know you all better. As I mentioned, I am a relative newbie to digital photography, and I do have a question I need some help with, so here goes:

I have been shooting mainly with my Nikon 18-105mm lens and, for whatever reason, I'm consistently under exposing my pictures. I have been shooting RAW in aperture priority mode. Fortunately, shooting RAW has allowed me to correct this in post processing, but I would rather correct this so my photos are correct right from the camera. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong or not doing?

[quote=Ray32506]I gave you my advise and I will again. Post one of the picutures (jpeg) before Post Process and click on "store original" and re-note what you said here. The camera data should show some of the clues. David
