The head looks like a bull frog but the body looks like a toad. I don't know.

Ears are typical of an aquatic frog.

Nice shots of that guy! It's a Froad!

It is a Bullfrog, I do believe. Their color varies quite a lot and this is an extraordinarily dark specimen. I am guessing from the dandelion in the one photo that this was a large frog. The other frog species in North America are much smaller than the Bullfrog. The Green frog is similar, but it has a lateral ridge leading from the ear back along its side, and an ear that is much larger in proportion to the head. The skin on toads is drier and much rougher with much more distinctive markings. Frogs need to keep their skin moist.

When uncertain, you should kiss it. If you get a prince, well then you'll know...

Looks like a frog to me, and that last shot is a hoot. Doesn't look like there's much going on upstairs. :-D

This appears to be a Female Bullfrog. The males Tympanum (ear membrane), would be twice the diameter of the eye if it were a male.

The male would have a yellowish throat as well. Nice shots, by the way.

You did well by illustrating the habitat as well.

That is a nice capture.. I love that third shot...I have to agree with Donna, this creature doesn't exude intelligence.

As for it being a frog or toad... I also believe this is a female bullfrog. I can't say for positive, however I believe all the toads I have seen previously have a somewhat different mouth and jaw structure.
