No virus on a Mac! don't need a defender!
My IT guy told me another story.

I wouldn't "No virus" maybe not as many. I don't use virus protection on my macs, no problem yet!
It is not only the virus, but watch out for hackers!
Also being active on forums might be dangerous too. Why run a risk.
The trouble is that many of the so called Anti viruses for Macs are worse than the viruses.
I'm curious as to what kind of OS Macs have that they are not subject to viruses.

I think not subject is too strong, but they are resistant. :)
It really dose not matter, I have owed a SE, 6100, 8100, quicksilver, iMac, mac mini, macbook, macbook pro, and a mac pro and never had a HD crash or a virus until I loaded vista with bootcamp.

Macs have an os that it based or a derivative of Unix. It was claimed by the "White Hats" (the guys that are specialists at internet security) that the reason Macs did not have as many viruses was that when the "Virus Writers" wanted to spend time writing something to infect, they would rather write something to infect 8 out of 10 computers rather than 1 out of 10. (the other 1 being Unix and other OS's than MS/Windows). This has changed over the last few years and viruses are starting to appear for Macs because they can. Unix wasn't impervious to viruses, it just wasn't worth the effort.

Hey, I got this bridge that comes with swamp land that might be right up your alley!
I have had my Apple MacBook and iMac since 2006 but this means they are 32 bit and software is moving onto 64 bit so I may have to replace the iMac soon. However, everything works and any problems have been dealt with by the genius bar. I can use the MacBook in studios or on location to process images using Nikon's ViewNZ 2, I also use Sofortbild (free) to tether my Nikon.

It's not so much that they "are not subject to viruses" as that the hackers aren't that much into hacking Mac's.
:D IMHO they also have stronger native protection.
