Have a good quality mono and head. I've tried using it but, feel it's about as unsteady as hand held. I have a D600 and use fast primes. Trying to deceide to sell it or not. I've use it once in a year. Any feedback welcome. Thanks Ed
I have several and use them with longer lenses. They definitely help make my images sharper. All have quick releases and NO heads.
I don't use a head on the pods as they make the camera more difficult to control. I seldom have a need to point the camera down to any large degree; a pivoting head is a hindrance. Properly adjusted to eye level leaning the pod forward or back and side to side is more than adequate to cover the subject. I leave the stabilizer on.
For me there is little need to use a monopod with shorter lenses with adequate light and a stabilized body. In dim light a tripod is best.
This works out well for me. Try it before you decide to sell the pod. I think they are nearly as good as a tripod and much more convenient.
This has been an on-going issue with me. I even had Jay Pat, one of our fine Hogs, give me a one-on-one, outside a bar-b-que cafe in Austin. I have 3 monopods. One with a standard foot, one with a big stopper foot and one that has 3 small tripod type legs (about 6" long) on a swivel base. I have good heads on each.I like big foot the best. I haven't tried some of the suggestions made here but I'm going to. I have a slight hand tremor and I have a difficult time holding still. This has been a good posting.

I am totally impressed with the response to this topic. You are great folks on here. Ed
Thank you. Now where can I get one? I appreciate your help.

Order one from the website I posted or search Amazon or eBay for a similar (but less expensive) equivalent. Don't worry about the QR; it will probably br a better choice anyway. By the way, many will suggest a ball head. While excellent tripod accessories, I would discourage one in this case; you only need to control tilt in one plane.
BTW, the following quote is from the WORST of 340 reviews received by B&H regarding the 234RC; the reviewer gave it one measly star (average is ~4.5 stars), but concluded his comments with:
"Works well to easily remove/attach to the monopod."
