18-105VR on a D7100...has some weight but not too heavy to carry around all day.
I enjoy my 24-105 L on my Canon 5DII. With the full size sensor, I can always crop to a small area of the image with virtually no loss.
Nikon 17-55 f2.8 on a Nikon D7100. Not much I can't do with this combination.

I was using a Canon 28-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS on my 60D for a couple years but on my recent 30 day trip to China and Southeast Asia when I had to travel light with only one lens I used a lighter and wider and longer Sigma 18-250 mm f/3.5-6.3 OS Macro with reasonably good results often under conditons far from ideal. Especally in China where haze is a big problem.
Now I am evaluating whether there is any reason to keep the Canon 28-135 mm which gave excellent images, probably better than the 18-250 mm Sigma at relevant focal lengths, but I am not sure. I also recently bought a Canon 70-200 mm f/4 L IS to cover longer needs and replace the Canon 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 IS I have been using. Any advice re these options? I do have a second body, a Canon 40D, that can use these lenses when needed.
